Building the foundations for AI transformation is absolutely key if enterprises are to deliver business results from technology investment.
There is no doubt AI success is a key goal for many organisations. At IDC’s annual CIO event, 77% of those surveyed said a top priority was to implement and scale AI.
Unfortunately, too often, organisations find that their infrastructure is not ready. AI requires data and processing resources far beyond what day-to-day business has needed in the past. In the same survey, 56% named technology modernisation as a top priority.
For businesses that run on SAP, the modernisation is two-fold: it involves migrating to the cloud, since on-premises data centres can rarely support AI at scale; and it involves upgrading SAP to unlock its AI features, and the power of in-memory databases.
While some organisations might be happy to go from on-premises ECC to S/4HANA in the cloud in a single leap, others will prefer a phased approach. They can adopt Suite on HANA first, upgrading the database under the familiar applications. Then, they can move to S4/HANA. The move to the cloud can happen at any stage: before, while, or after implementing Suite on HANA.
AWS offers a wide variety of solutions to help SAP customers optimise their current assets and accelerate their journey to ERP cloud transformation in a cost-effective way. Moreover, the company supports both business and technical drivers that can modernise the enterprise’s digital core.
Once organisations have established their foundation on the AWS Cloud, they can leverage AWS’s comprehensive AI portfolio to extend their core SAP applications driving higher productivity and efficiency.
Leading foundation models like the latest Anthropic Claude or Amazon Nova models on AWS Bedrock infuse generative AI in SAP applications. This is underpinned by a joint reference architecture with SAP and an established mechanism like the AWS SAP AI Co Innovation Program to support customers on their AI innovation and modernisation journey.
