Research from McKinsey demonstrates that 65% of organisations regularly use generative AI and  three-quarters predict it will lead to significant or disruptive change in their industries in the years ahead.1 Businesses leveraging SAP on Amazon Web Services (AWS) stand to be at the vanguard of this change, benefiting from generative AI-based ERP workflows including intelligent HR self-service, enhanced strategy and planning, turnkey application lifecycle management, and much else besides.2

Accelerating generative AI deployments

SAP users on AWS now stand to turbocharge their AI deployments thanks to a new, expanded collaboration to transform modern cloud ERP experiences and help enterprises drive new capabilities.

Together, AWS and SAP are making it easier for customers to adopt the RISE with SAP solution on AWS to improve the performance and efficiency of SAP workloads running in the cloud and to embed generative AI into their business-critical applications.3

Using a new generative AI hub in the SAP AI Core infrastructure, users will benefit from being able to seamlessly integrate the industry-leading large language models (LLMs) that are supported on Amazon Bedrock into their business applications.

This is just the start. Next, SAP plans to use AWS Trainium and AWS Inferentia chips, purpose built for AI and machine learning (ML) workloads. By leveraging Trainium’s specialised architecture designed for efficient ML model training, SAP can accelerate the development process while maintaining high levels of accuracy and reliability.

Four ways generative AI can benefit SAP users on AWS

The nexus of generative AI, SAP, and AWS promised to unlock unprecedented business value across four key dimensions:

  1. Enabling new experiences by using conversational interfaces to reshape how employees and customers access information, applications, and services.
  2. Boosting employee productivity by helping them creating content, code, or images faster.
  3. Extract insights from large volumes of documents to better share knowledge and make more informed decisions.
  4. Enhance creativity by making it easierfor people tocreate new content or ideate and iterate new products.

Amazon Bedrock is critical to helping SAP users unlock these core benefits. With Amazon Bedrock, SAP users can easily experiment with the leading foundational models on the market and customize them with their own data using techniques and build unique managed agents for complex business tasks – and all with security and privacy baked in from the outset.

Thanks to the new AI hub integration, SAP users can achieve all this while keeping their core clean.  What’s more, Amazon Bedrock is accessible from the AWS software developer kit (SDK) for SAP Advanced Business Application Programming (ABAP), making it easy for users to incorporate generative AI capabilities into SAP applications using a familiar programming language.

AI made easy

The ability of businesses to reimagine how business gets done with generative AI will be crucial to success in the years ahead. All businesses know this, but not all businesses run SAP on AWS.

SAP and AWS are putting in the work to better integrate SAP applications and data with the most powerful LLMs, so SAP users have a significant advantage.
